 MESSAGES FROM THE GRAND KNIGHT

 Dear Brother Knights:

We had a very good meeting on August 5, 2008. I hope everyone had an opportunity to watch some of the 126th Supreme Convention highlights on EWTN. The pot-luck social is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Mill Pond, unless other arrangements are made. Our Deputy Grand Knight Giuseppe Crimi, due to health, would like to step down as the DGK, but remain as the Round Table Chairman for Lone Pine. If anyone would be willing to serve as the Deuty Grand Knight please let me know.

We are still looking for a Chairman for the Rummage Sale, the Tootsie Roll Campaign & the St. Patrick's Day Dinner.

I'll be out of town from August 12th through August 30th. We'll be taking our daughter Victoria to St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. Please pray for us to have a safe trip.

Please remember to give Brother Schaaf a hand with the donuts after the Sunday morning Masses.

Sometime ago the council had approved a monetary gift for Fr. Gracey, which he never used, so the Council gave Fr. Gracey $500 for his personal use toward his trip to Africa. The Council also approved a $200 charitable donation to Fr. Gracey's missionary efforts during his Africa trip.

The Grand Knight and Brothers Pecsi & Syre were selected as the Council's delegates to the Inyo-Kern Chapter.

Our Treasury is in good shape with a little over $12,000 total in all accounts. The financial Secretary & Treasurer are completing a Council budget for for the Fraternal Year. Several expense items were deferred until the budget is completed.

Work on "Mary's Rest" park is continuing. Brother Bregoff is the chairman for the project. There is a lot of work to do and Brother Bregoff has asked the Knights to help out, so give Brother Bregoff a call and he'll get you started on a portion of the project.

Brother Pecsi reported on the plans for the Valentine's Day Dinner Social. Three venue choices were offered, Whiskey Creek, Rossi's and the Bishop Country Club. A selection will be made at the September meeting, so come to the meeting.

Brother Pecsi will be gathering information on uniform attire for our ushers and other actions to help reduce the distractions caused by people arriving late for Mass.

Brother Van Tassel will be the Chairman heading up a monthly non-perishable food drive. The benefits of the food drive will be distributed to the Salvation Army and other local food banks.

Remember, Chaplain Fr. Gracey has asked for the Knights to participate in the Sunday Adoration, even if only for a few minutes. This is a very good way to receive special grace and to show spiritual leadership in our parish and community. Come and spend one hour with Jesus.

Please continue to pray for Terri Schaaf, Ed & Adeline Joseph, Arlene Buser, Nick Vardakis, Bill Oram, Herve Tremblay and the Crom Family.

As you can see the Council is engaged in many worthwhile activities and needs each Brothers help to succeed. Please support the Council. Thank you.

Fraternally Yours,

Ken Toy
